What is counselling?

We can all be challenged or go through difficult circumstances in our lives. At times we may become stressed, anxious, experience profound unhappiness or suffer a great loss.

Counselling provides a protected and boundaried space in which to bring and work through these experiences. In a counselling session, you will be heard, by a trained person, in strict confidence.

The counsellor's role is not to give advice or to tell you what to do but rather to be a skilled and helpful companion, accompanying you, as you discover your own process and ways of finding growth and healing.

How long is a counselling session?

A therapy session, or 'therapeutic hour', lasts for 50 minutes. This is to allow time for the counsellor to take any notes and prepare between seeing clients.

How can I use Therapy?

Open Ended Therapy / Longer Term Therapy - Online or Face-to-Face:

Long-term or open-ended therapy is like consistently going to the gym for your mind and emotions. By progressing at your own pace, it offers the opportunity to engage in a deeper and more meaningful exploration of personal issues. Just as regular gym attendance  maintains and transforms the body, committing to ongoing therapy allows individuals to build emotional growth, develop coping mechanisms, and achieve lasting positive change. This steady journey towards self discovery contributes to enduring emotional well-being and mental health.

Solution Focused / Time Limited Therapy  - Online or Face-to-Face:

Recognising individual needs, Time-Limited Therapy can also be offered for those seeking focused solutions within a more condensed time-frame. However it is important to note that while this approach can efficiently address immediate concerns, its scope may not match the depth and breadth of long-term therapy. Whether you prefer in-depth exploration or focused support for immediate concerns, therapy can be tailored to align with your journey and preferences.

How much does counselling cost?

Therapy costs £55 a session. A limited number of concessions/discounts can be considered for the unemployed, and those otherwise limited financially. This can be discussed in your first session. The payment method is currently cash or bank transfer, in advance or within 24 hours.
